As always, there are plenty of local events for movie lovers this month. Here’s a sample:
- May 6 — Tampa Comic Book and Toy Convention — TODAY!! 10 am to 4pm!!! In addition to comics, videos, artwork and trading cards, there will be special appearances by local horror author Andrea Dean Van Scoyoc and local actor Joel D. Wynkoop. Film screenings that day will include the local film Dark Dimensions. Click here for directions, ticket info and more details.
- May 16 — The Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival is screening Outing Riley at the Baywalk Muvico in St. Pete. The screening will be followed by a free wine social event at Bella Brava. Visit the TIGLFF site for more info.
- May 18 — The Tampa Museum of Art’s monthly Art After Dark event will include several local films. Click here for the list and ticket info.
- May 27 — You know that summer has officially begun when the Tampa Theatre begins its Summer Classic Movie series. First up is the Frank-and-Annette classic Beach Blanket Bingo, complete with an audience costume parade before the screening. Groovy! Click here for more info.
