biggest thanksgiving dinner ever
November 20, 1941 – Over 5,000 troops at airfields all over Tampa are served what is believed to be the largest Thanksgiving dinner ever set before the Army. Over 400 turkeys were made available for MacDill, Drew, and Benjamin fields, and an estimated six pounds of food were served to each man. The menu included 27 items, including turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, creamed peas, corn and candied yams.
