It’s safe to assume that with a name like the Tampa International Film Festival, foreign films will be on display.  This is certainly true, with 18 films from various countries scheduled for the event, which opened February 3. The TIFF is bringing in Indian director Buddhadeb Dasgupta and Canadian director Bernard Emond on Saturday, February 11.

There’s also alot of local talent featured at this year’s festival.  The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) is hosting the free public forum Ecology and Technology on February 11 at 4 p.m.  The forum panel is comprised of local scholars: UT film professor and TIFF founder and director Dr. Rob Tregenza; USF German professor and cinema scholar Dr. Margit Grieb; UT professor and Fulbright Scholar Dr. Timothy Kennedy; and USF English and Film Studies professor and cinema scholar Dr. Phillip Sipiora.

On Thursday, February 9, at 7 p.m. at Sunrise Cinemas, the festival’s lineup is comprised of multiple American independent short films, programmed by The Education Channel.
