what, me worry?
Hillsborough County Commission chair Jim Norman is Alfred E. Neuman.
In response to concerns of a big hurricane bearing down on us:
We are not New Orleans.
There’s not a problem.
We have a solid plan in place.
Although it is highly likely folks will be stuck in traffic for hours on the highways out of town.

If he doesn’t say what it is (the “solid plan”) then I don’t believe him. Everyone has a plan until it’s time to enact it.
Sheesh, maybe we ARE New Orleans.

Wow. I hadn’t seen this before I moved to this page from your post, Drive or Be Killed.
There aren’t enough shelters in Pinellas or Hillsborough? We have like half of what we need! It takes 56 hrs to evac just the Tampa Bay area. It takes 107 to evac the entirety of S. Florida in the event of a Cat 5.
And the shelters we do have? Well, in Pinellas one of them flooded with Ivan, which didn’t even come close. And my son’s school was alway short on food when they returned from a hurricane break. Which means that, obviously, those facilities are not prepared for an extended stay when filled to capacity.
These people are such jokers.
